Requirements

✔ CERTIFICATION TEST
✔ MENTORING (New AO's) AND EVALUATIONS (Returning and Senior AO's)
BYL will cover registration and certification fees
Qualifications
Minimum Age – Must be 16 years of age by March 1, 2023 (exceptions may be made for 15 year olds who have been approved by the town after discussion with the Regional Referee Coordinator)
School Level – Program is open to High School students who meet the minimum age requirement.
High School and College students who are 18 and older by March 1, 2023 are eligible for more advanced officiating programs
Associate Officials must be a certified Associate Member of EMLOA
- Complete Registration and pay annual dues
- Complete Classroom/Remote Training
- Successfully complete EMLOA AO Certification Test
- New candidates must complete mentoring process
Associate Officials from MBYLL towns must Register on MBYLL site.
Senior Associate Officials – must be a High School Senior and have at least two years of high performance as an Associate Official
AO Status
NEW ASSOCIATE OFFICIAL -If you have never officiated games, you are a New AO.
RETURNING ASSOCIATE OFFICIAL - If you officiated games in 2023, you are considered to be a Returning AO
SENIOR ASSOCIATE OFFICIAL - If you are a Senior in High School and have officiated for one or two seasons, you may be eligible to become a Senior AO
